Research Focus: Our goal to elucidate the molecular mechanisms controlling the embryonic development of digestive and respiratory organs. We use a combination of Xenopus and mouse animal models, human pluripotent stem cells and cutting-edge genomics to investigate the underlying gene regulatory networks of organogenesis. This research will reveal fundamental principles of development, clarify the etiology of birth defects and inform strategies to direct the differentiation of human organoids for regenerative medicine.
