We demonstrate the existence of γδ T cells expressing CD8αβ. These cells contribute to rapid IFN-γ responses in early life and their development is guided by low TCR signaling, IL-4, and IL-7. Overactive IL-7R-STAT5B signaling contributes to γδ T cell transformation.
