Facing the Gender Data Gap

A joint autum school of the Centre of Anthropology and Gender Studies, the CRC 1597 Small Data and the Departement of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine

This autumn school ofers you a unique opportunity to spend one immersive week at the intersection of clinical science, statistics, AI and gender studies. You will join clinicians, statisticians, computer scientists and gender experts in an environment where realworld clinical data meets cutting-edge simulation and machinelearning techniques. Work side by side with experts and peers in interactive keynotes and hands-on projects not only explore the societal importance of closing gender-related data gaps but also develop practical solutions together, culminating in open-source tools. Experience:

  •  Interdisciplinary exchange of clinical insights, statistical methods and gender perspectives
  •  Expert talks and interactive workshops on AI-driven simulations
  •  Guided, hands-on team projects with clinical data Be part of shaping more equitable health outcomes!

🏬 Where? Albertstr. 23 b HS II, 02 033, Freiburg
📅 When? October 6-10, 2025, 9:00-16:30

With Hackathon:
Combining Classical Statistics & Machine Learning to Close the Gender Data Gap Jump into the world of clinical datasets and team up to:

  •  Explore classical statistical methods with machine-learning workfows in a clinical context
  •  Validate algorithms for detecting sex and gender based distortions in medical data
  •  Delve into subgroup analysis – relevant to pharmaceutical research
  •  Prototype tools that expose and reduce gender biases
  •  Build fully reproducible, open-source analysis pipelines Turn data into impact: Create the open-source solutions that drive equitable health research!

The hackathon will be held in English, the Autumn School as a whole in English-German/German-English
