From 17 to 19 October 2019, CIBSS researchers and students presented signalling science to children at the “Science Days” science fair in the popular theme park Europa Park near Rust, Germany. Each year this event attracts up to 18 000 school children and their families excited about science.

This year at the CIBSS booth, children and their parents could learn about the DNA, and how they themselves can extract it from their own cells within a few simple steps, making the molecules visible to the naked eye. At the end of the experiment, each booth visitor could take home a necklace with a capsule containing their most precious personal signal: the genetic code in form of DNA molecules.
